Vans Bowl-A-Rama – New York City – 2012

Vans BOWL-A-RAMA NYC 2012 – ROLL IN 2

New York City saw the who’s who of the skateboarding world for both Pro’s and Master’s divisions as they turned up the heat for the inaugural Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark.

The Pro’s and Masters were tight with Teenage Brazilian skateboarding sensation and now seven time BOWL-A-RAMA™ winner Pedro Barros took out first place for the Pro division, followed closely by 14 year old and Red Bull team mate Alex Sorgente, and in third place was Ben Hatchell.

In the Masters division Lance Mountain absolutely killed it and come in first with Steve Caballero in second followed by Eddie “El Gato” Elguera in third.

The week gave back to the New York skateboarding community; in true BOWL-A-RAMA style we broke the Max Fish all time bar sales record at the LOVE + GUTS art show “Empty Culture”, which paid homage to this accidental marriage between skateboarders and the backyard pool, as artists express their ideas and creativity through this matchless channel.

The newest addition to the awards ceremony was the Spirit of Kessler Award in honor of the late Andy Kessler. The award was for any rider across the whole competition that best exemplified Andy’s spirit in their skating and general stoke. The legendary George Orton took out the award that was selected by Kessler’s oldest and best friend Puppet and had skaters and the spectators in an ovation.
