Built by a skater from the 60's

Unlike most parks from the 70's wave, South Bay Skateboard Park was reportedly owned and run by a first-generation skateboarder. Gary Daniel was a skateboarder from the 1960’s era who was still riding when the urethane era hit. He said he built the park “because he [had] been run out of shopping centers and had epithets hurled at him from motorists when he took to public streets.”  The idea was that the park would give himself -and other Metroplex skaters a safe place to go without hassle from non-skaters.
