A mystery park open less than a year
There is very little information recorded about this Odessa park. A $15,000 permit to "remodel a building and build a skatepark" was granted to contractor Edward Story in October 1977. In December 1977, an advertisement said the park would be "coming soon."
Then a January 27 1978 ad said the park and arcade were open. By September 1978, however, the park appeared in a real estate listing as being for sale. This was not an uncommon occurrence for the time, since most parks were for-profit ventures that didn't exactly draw a profit. Still, it is unclear if the park was still open at the time of the listing. The last mention of the park was in a police blotter in February of 1979, when the park was burglarized while it was closed for Winter.
