VOLCOM TO HOST YOUTH-FOCUSED SKATEBOARDING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THEIR PRIVATE SKATEPARK, COSTA MESA, CA

Costa Mesa, CA – September 24, 2014 –Over the course of 2014, Volcom’s Wild in the Parks contest tour has traveled North America to find the very best in amateur skateboarding talent. The series has consisted of 12 regional contests, each qualifying the top 21 participants to compete in the 2014 WITP Global Championships. For their efforts, these competitors will now skate for a piece of Volcom’s $15,000 cash purse, stacks of prizes, and the title of 2014 WITP Champion! This event encourages community involvement while promoting the incredible talent today’s youth possesses. During the WITP Championships, competitors are judged on the tricks they land, not on their bails, in three separate skatepark “zones”. There are three divisions: 14 & Under, 15 – 21, and Open/AM that are sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. Free food, free drinks, free games, and giveaways will be provided throughout the day for competitors and spectators alike.
The Wild in the Parks (WITP) is one of three contest series that make up Volcom’s venerable ‘Let the Kids Ride Free’ (LTKRF) grassroots movement. Volcom’s LTKRF regional and global events are designed to enable the youth to gain contest experience, have a good time, win free prizes/cash, and showcase their talents at a local, national, and worldwide level.
This year’s $15,000.00 WITP Championship event will be hosted by Volcom at their private training facility located at: 1740 Monrovia Avenue Costa Mesa, CA on Saturday October 11th, 2014.

Divisions: 14 & Under, 15 – 21, Open/AM
Entry Fee: None, the event is absolutely free
Contest Begins: 2pm
Running Time: 5-7 hrs (depending on the number of competitors)
Free BBQ: 5:00pm
Awards: 9 pm
