THE SKATEBOARDING HALL OF FAME 2010 INDUCTIONS

The Skateboarding Hall of Fame and the I.A.S.C. formally celebrated the second year of inductions into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame tonight. This years entries were Torger Johnson, Stacy Peralta, Steve Caballero, Eric Koston, Bob Burnquist, and Patti McGee. Also included we two industry awards to Craig Stecyk and Larry Stevenson. They have now joined the class of 2009 inductees: Bruce Logan, Tony Alva, Tony Hawk and Danny Way.

The S.H.O.F. is housed at Skatelab Skatepark in Simi Valley CA. and is currently building up the Hall and Museum to showcase the history of skateboarding. The S.H.O.F. is still in its infancy and finding its direction, but it looks to be heading down the proper path. As more skateboarders take notice and more industry involvement and support go into its creation we all stand to benefit not only in its showcase of our passions, but we also gain a better cohesion of community between the generations of skateboarders past and present.

The event itself went off with a classic skateboarding flare for the unrehearsed. Lance Mountain and Steve Berra were the MC’s and carried the event through from guest to guest. Some of the introductions and speeches were long and some were fresh and some truly heartfelt. The amount of skateboarding history was impressive to put it mildly. The apparently unplanned theme of the event seemed to be “Did you skate today?”
