A simple asphalt track built by a career Gym teacher.

Skateboarding was hot in the summer of '77, and Elwood Indiana asked its Parks and Rec department to organize some skateboard activity.

Only the director of Parks and Rec for five months at that point, Myra Johnson arranged for both a place to skate and a series of competitions to be held there. Ms. Johnson finished out 1977 in the directorial role and moved on.
