50 CENT CONCERT FOLLOWS DEW TOUR SKATE STREET FINALS IN THE JOINT AT HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO, OCTOBER 14
Tickets On Sale Now for Dew Tour Championships Presented by GoDaddy.com; Friday Night Includes Skate Finals and Concert
Burr Ridge, Ill. – Sept. 26, 2011 – 50 Cent will perform a concert directly following the Skate Street Finals in The Joint at 9:30pm on Friday, October 14. The concert will be held in The Joint as part of the Dew Tour Championships presented by GoDaddy.com in Las Vegas, the final stop of the 2011 season. The four day event, held October 13-16 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, will feature the biggest names in action sports competing for the Dew Cup in skate street and vert and BMX dirt, park and vert.
Known as one of the biggest commercial hip-hop success stories of the past decade, 50 Cent rose to fame with his breakout album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Born Curtis Jackson in Jamaica, Queens, he quickly became used to holding his own in a rough street life of drugs and crime. He chose to focus on his rap career after a street shooting left him in the hospital for five months. Following his debut release, he was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre, who helped him rise to fame and reach commercial success with the eight-time platinum Get Rich or Die Tryin’, as well as start G-Unit Records, which spawned many successful rappers. 50 Cent’s four studio albums have resulted in over 24 million sales worldwide. He is set to release his next album in November, making his performance at the Dew Tour Championships presented by GoDaddy.com a highly anticipated show in the hip hop industry.
Kicking off the evening, the Skate Street Finals held at The Joint will determine the winner of the 2011 Skate Street Dew Cup. With a winner takes all competition between Paul Rodriguez and Ryan Decenzo, a heated contest will be the opening act for 50 Cent. Vying for crucial points and the Dew Cup win, the stacked skate street field that has featured strong performances throughout the season from Greg Lutzka and Manny Santiago will provide an exciting lead in to one of the biggest acts the Dew Tour stage seen.
Tickets for the Dew Tour Championships presented by GoDaddy.com are available through Ticketmaster.com, Hard Rock Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800.745.3000.The week opens for free on Thursday, with action at both Festival Village and competition venues. For Immediate Release
PAUL RODRIGUEZ, GREG LUTZKA AND BUCKY LASEK SET TO COMPETE AT DEW TOUR’S PORTLAND INVITATIONAL
AUGUST 11-14 IN PORTLAND, OREGON
Event to Feature Legends Bowl Jam Friday Night
Burr Ridge, Ill. – August 8, 2011 – The Dew Tour takes over the Rose Quarter of Portland, Ore. this weekend for the seventh consecutive year, August 11-14. The biggest names in skate will be returning to compete in Skate Street, Skate Bowl and the Alli RideShop Legends Jam, a bowl contest exclusive to the Portland stop.
Skate Street debuts for the season in Portland, with a newly designed concrete course. Paul Rodriguez will bring his smooth style to the contest, hoping to top Greg Lutzka, whose technical flips and grinds almost won him the 2010 Dew Cup. Ryan Decenzo is no stranger to success in Portland, winning the 2009 Best Trick contest. Theotis Beasley, Ronnie Creager, Dennis Busenitz, Clint Peterson and more round out the competition on the street course.
The inaugural season of the Dew Tour’s Skate Bowl competition hits Portland after its huge success in Ocean City. Not often seen on the skate contest circuit, the full-concrete bowl gives spectators a front row seat to the varials and coping grinds of both well-known names and up-and-coming skaters. The bowl, designed by skate legend Chris Miller, will be the place to witness the new-school style of Pedro Barros, who took home first place honors in July at the first Dew Tour stop, Ben Hatchell and Portland native Kevin Kowalski, as they measure their skills against the experience of Steve Caballero, Andy MacDonald, Bucky Lasek and Lance Mountain.
In addition to action-packed competitions, Sunday night’s Skate Bowl Final will be preceded by the Alli RideShop Legends Jam, a skate bowl event that promises to bring the big names of old-school skateboarding out to show off the skills that made the sport what it is today. The weekend will also feature a Friday night concert headlined by Green Label Sound Artist The Cool Kids. The show will be opened by West Coast rap group Pac Div.

Dew Tour – Open Qualifier update – Chris Miller
Dew Tour Bowl Update
The open qualifiers went down today and there was some amazing skating that happened. I have to say that I was impressed with the diversity of skating styles and the range of approaches to this bowl. In many ways the judges had a tough job just sorting through this variety. How do you compare the smooth flowing riffs of Tyler Mumma to the youthful back and forth of Steve Pineiro? There’s a lot to admire about both, so hats off to the judges for trying to rank all the skaters who shredded the bowl today at the Dew Tour.
Sandro Dias- utilized every corner – lien transfer
Stevie Caballero- frontside invert through the corner… GULP!
Dalton Dern-qualified 2nd – 540
Josh Mattson- pop shuv it tail grab
Tom Schaar- this 11 year old powerhouse pulled a 720
Having nothing to do with the results, the standouts in my mind were Sandro Dias — who adopted his high – powered big air style to the hips and curves of the bowl very well, Steve Caballero with his classic smooth flow and patented bag of tricks, Josh Mattson with alley – oop front blunts, mini -grom Tom Schaar who did a 720, and Tyler Mumma who did some of the most stylish lines and grinds of all. In the end the results of the open qualifier looked like this:
1 Dias Sandro
2 Dern Dalton
3 Mattson Josh
4 Schaar Tom
5 O’friel Michael
6 Sorgente Alex
7 Caballero Steve
8 Kimbel Willis
9 Blair Charlie
10 Pineiro Steven
11 Mocquin Guillaume
12 Beckett Sam
13 Taylor Adam
14 Horrwarth Juergen
15 Lorifice Rob
16 Mumma Tyler
17 Benoliel Julien
18 Stafford Josh
19 Boulanger Joey
20 Jones Rodney
21 Wisniewski Paul
22 Fancher Packy
23 Merlino Mason
24 Harris Corbin
25 Furlong Anthony
Looking forward to more Dew Tour ripping this weekend– Chris Miller
George Crosland-viewpoint
The question of whether we could successfully build a temporary, moveable cement bowl on the beach was answered today. The Dew Tour Pantech Open bowl in Ocean City, Maryland was completed in time for practice and qualifiers to not only go down but go off. The first of it’s kind, since the bowl can be used again, the overall conclusion is that the bowl is rad; designed and built well, smooth flowing and fun. The bowl, designed by Chris Miller, consists of a shallow end that allows for a huge variety of options with pockets, flat wall, corners, and hips. The shallow flows into the deep which is essentially a square bowl that can be attacked by way of high speed corner carves, halfpipe style back and forth lines or any combination you want. It is not too tight and not too mellow. If you like 15 foot deep Oregon bowls, it might be too mellow but you get the idea, it’s fun.
Adam Taylor- good to see him back … ripping!
Willis Kimbel- son of legend Curt Kimbel
Despite the hot temperatures, a varied group of skateboarders came out to practice. You had veterans like Bucky Lasek, Omar Hassan and Rune Glifberg ripping along side younger guys like Tom Remillard, Ben Raybourn and Ben Hatchell. Being freshly built, the cement was a bit grippy but everyone got used to it and proceeded to find their lines. Watching the variety of styles out there today was a blast. From the flowing lines of Tyler Mumma to Alex Perelson blasting airs to Ben Raybourn’s trickery, hell everyone was ripping. Those that showed up early got some alone time in the bowl. But with such a big group of guys throwing down, the practice sessions eventually got hectic with the usual two to four guys in the bowl at a time. A few collisions happened at the height of the session but no serious injuries.
Michael O’ Friel- madonna over the hip
As practice ended and qualifiers started, things got way more mellow. There were 6 heats with 4-5 skaters in each heat. Each heat had their own practice session limited to the guys in the heat so they could dial in their runs without the criss – cross crash factor. There were fifteen minute jams & the guys skated in order. This was the format and it seemed to work out. Of the 28 guys that competed today, 13 got to move on to meet 22 pre -qualified skaters tomorrow. Some of the pre- qualified skaters include Bucky Lasek, Rune Glifberg, Pedro Barros , Alex Perelson and more. Today was great and tomorrow will be better as everyone finds more lines and the pre -qualified guys go to work on the bowl, stay tuned. – George Crosland
Thank you to Chris Miller & George Crosland for the updates. Thank you to Chris Ortiz for the images. Skate- Ozzie

Dew Tour- update II from Chris Miller
Dew Tour bowl- completed. Take a look at those grind marks… Oh Yeah!
Breaking In The Bowl
Ok, so the consensus is the new Dew Tour bowl is great. But great can still be challenging to figure out and get used to. For me personally that meant taking a tumble on the grippy new concrete and having to sit out the rest of the session nursing some bruised ribs. Oh well.. I guess you gotta pay to play!
As the day went on more and more lines were found for all. Standouts for the day were Pedro, Omar, Sky, Nolan Monroe and Rune. In the evening, for the final session of day I sat next to Pedro talking about lines while watching Zach Miller and Daniel Cardone skate. As they both started to make it click with very distinct but great styles, I realized the beauty of bowl skating is that every bowl is a unique puzzle with a unique solution for each person who rides it.
I have a feeling tomorrow we will see some guys really open things up. I can’t wait…

Dew Tour – Update from Chris Miller
Dew Tour Bowl- Ocean City, MD
I just arrived in Ocean City and after nervously anticipating the reality of the Dew Tour Bowl, the nerves are gone and replaced with excitement. It’s amazing looking! Wally Holiday and the crew from Spohn Ranch were just resuming work after a few hours of rain had caused an interruption. There’s no more rain expected, so hopefully by tomorrow morning we will skating this beautiful thing and not just looking! I don’t want to claim too hard, but if it skates as good as it looks, the Dew Tour Bowl might be one of the best ever! I will send an update tomorrow… Chris Miller
