1/3 of the times I've been to this park the gate was locked because it rained 2 days ago and there's a beer cans worth of water on the flat bottom. 1/3 of the times I've been to this park it was over run by bikers. Just start shredding and they'll get out of your way and eventually leave. And, more recently, the remaining 1/3 of the times I've been to maple shade the cops show up and threaten to give $400 fines for not wearing a helmet (Is the fine still $300 for skating love park?). Say you didn't know and they'll just keep giving you warnings.

Maple Shade is a typical Wally Holiday park; simple design, smooth finish, and a street section that kinda leaves you scratching your head. He did a good job with the big bowl and the fact that they didn't give him much space to work with (8000 square feet). A little pool block would have been nice. They just raised the toll back to Philly to $4 and I've heard by the end of the year it'll be $5. I wont be making the trip much after Roslyn, PA gets finished. I'd give it a 6 on the days that it's open and you don't have to talk to cops, more like a 4 the rest of the time.

Typically has a lot of bikers and a mix of scooter kids, but skaters are usually there as well. This IS a tranny park, there's simply no room to have street obstacles. There's a small pyramid and some ledges, but most people sit on the ledges as there's no easy way to roll up to them and they're pretty high. The first bowl has some transitional elements like the roll-over in the middle and a pyramid on one side. It also has a ledge into bowl and a euro gap. The second bowl is much deeper and has plenty of vert (and is typically used less than the shallower bowl).

Cops do show up every once in a while (only saw them once after going here a few times over the course of a couple weeks) mostly to bug you about wearing helmets and threaten to close the gate if we don't. But they usually don't stick around.

The vibe is alright, there's sometimes a little tension between bikers and skaters, but most people just take turns and stick to their groups. I wouldn't always call it friendly, but they won't get mad at you if you don't get in their way.

In general, a good couple of bowls and a small flatground area to learn flip tricks if you need to. Worth it if you want to skate some tranny, but probably not if you want some good street skating.
