Freedom Park Skatepark - Medford New Jersey, USA

An interesting skatepark. It's a mix of the old blacktop of the previously demoed skatepark and the new concrete park. While the blacktop is useful for learning flatground and the couple of pieces they left (a coping-covered ledge on a cement "box" (it's pretty wide and about a foot high. In the middle-left side of the aerial view of the park) and there's also a very low rail on the far lower right part of the park. Other than that, it's blacktop, most of the cracks are filled in but there's still a few new ones that have broken through.

The new part of the park (the cement part) is fairly nice and filled with a decent mix of street and tranny. You have the "bowl" (it actually doesn't go into the ground, the park is sorta built into a hill) which is easy enough to ride. One side is banked on the opposite side to allow for a little vert. Outside the bowl is a few quarter pipes that run parallel to the blacktop as well as a extended vert section on its own on the far right side of the park (though unless you get a lot of speed on the black top, it's kinda in an awkward location). The street section consists of a somewhat small hubba, a mellow 4 stair (each stair is maybe 3-4 inches high) with a flatbar going down it. Then there's a couple banks to ride up or down on (one is a more mellow angle while the other is slightly higher angled) on each side of the street section. There's also two benches that run along side the deck of the bowl which have some decent roll up.

When I went there around 1pm on a weekday, it was empty. A few younger kids showed up later on (and surprisingly with responsible parents who supervised them. Even the scooter kid) and a pretty chill biker showed up too. Don't know much of the vibe beyond that, but seemed like a chill place.


Overall, a good park. It's only 25-30 minutes away from me, but considering the lack of decent parks in south jersey, this one is probably worth checking out.
