Tucson skateboard park was the larger of two parks that opened in Tucson in 1978, and featured:
150 foot slalom course
170 foot snake run
120 foot halfpipe
Two pools
Beginner’s area
Like many other skateparks of the era, Tucson was built by investors looking to cash in on the trend of skateboarding. George Furchstam, head of the park, said they had failed to appropriately manage and run the park. In its less-than-one-year lifespan, it went through four park managers.
