Just a week after judges denied permits for a skatepark on the other side of Albuquerque, Richard T. Forman scored approval to build Roller Cross in the spring of 1977.
The park, however, wasn't opened until over a year later, and even then it was unfinished at its grand opening.
Upon launch, Roller Cross had:
-300 ft snake run
-12 foot deep tile/coping pool
-Slalom course
-Freestyle area
There was a beginner’s area slated for completion in 1978, which included a 40 ft long 9 foot deep halfpipe, and expanded freestyle area.
