| JOSH RODRIGUEZ |
| MRZ |

I've always been impressed with Josh Rodriguez. I remember the first time I saw him skate, it was at a Upland contest a couple of years ago. He was ripping hard and I could tell then he was one to watch. I'd see him at contest here and there and I'd always hear someone say " Who's that guy? He's ripping!" Josh is just one of those naturals. I caught up with him at Vans getting ready for the Protec. Here's what he had to say...
CD: How old are you Josh?
JR: I am 17 years old.
CD: How long have you been skating?
JR: I've been skating for about 4 years.
CD: Only 4 years? Wow. Your a fast learner.

One footed nose grind over the death box Encinitas contest 08.
CD: What was your first set up?
JR: My first set up was a target board, which i still have.
CD: Hang onto that thing.
CD: Who are your sponsors?
JR: My sponsor is Gridlock skateboards and wheels.

Sadplant.
CD: Who are your favorite skaters and why?
JR: Well my favorite skaters list is endless but my top 10 would be my
fellow team riders, Christian Hosoi, Steve Cab, Bucky Lasek, Rune
Glifberg, Darren Navarette, Chris Miller, Omar Hassan, Tony
Hawk and Bob Burnquist.
All of these skaters are really cool, their skateboarding is amazing,
and their styles are just awesome.
CD: What is your go to trick in a heavy session?
JR: My go to trick in a heavy session is a lipslide revert.
CD: I saw you pull that one over the death box at The Basic Bowl. SICK.

One footed slob.

Boneless.
CD: What trick do wish you could do but haven't mastered yet?
JR: The one trick I wish I could do, but havn't made yet is the Mctwist.
I've gotten close plenty of times but just havn't gathered enough
balls to go for it. But it'll come.
CD: What's playing on your Ipod while you skate?
JR; When I skate I have the radio on my Zune so I listen to whatever comes on.
CD: You seem to enter a lot of contest. Do you like doing them?
JR: Contests are pretty cool, I can honestly say I enjoy them.
CD: How do feel about the judging at most contest? I think you get burned alot. The
Basic, Encinitas, etc. I really thought you won Basic. But, I'm not a judge and
I would hate to have that job. Any comments on Basic Bowl? Contest
judging?
JR: HAHA. I don't really have much to say about the judging. Yea I was a little bummed
at first about basic, but its all good. I know I could have done way better than I did, I
wasnt as consistant as I should have been so its o.k. But 3rd place? Come on now.
No disrespect to Dave Reul, but I did do a few harder tricks. Any way like i said , its
all good. Time to move on.

Basic Bowl 09
CD: The Pro Tec is coming up. Are you ready?
JR: Yeah, I think I'm ready for pro tec. I'm just gonna go, do my thing and have fun .
CD: What pro do you really want to beat?
JR: HAHA. Well I wouldn't mine beating all of them.
CD: That's the right attitude.

Tail grab.
CD: Do you like the Combi pool?
JR: The combi pool is one of my favorite pools
CD: Where do you usually skate?
JR: I usually skate the montclair skatpark.
CD: Who do you normally skate with?
JR: I normally skate with the other Gridlock team riders.

Nose grind.
CD: What would be the ultimate session?
JR: The ultimate skate session would be all the pros skating my favorite park
CD: Snake session. Get hot or sit down?
JR: Snake session? . . just skate.

Stalefish.
CD: Any thing you'd like to add?
JR: Yeah, I just want to thank god and my sponsors, Mike and Stirling Fox for being there for me and thank you Ray for taking the time to do this.
CD: Thank you and good luck at The Protec Pool Party. Show em what your made of!

Parting shot.
Enjoy.
