After five years of political red tape and plenty of gold shovels, it turns out that the city of San Francisco is not going to go through with the previously proposed direction to have Grindline build its highly needed and anticipated Potrero Del Sol skatepark. The suits and SF's Park and Recreation department are now looking for another qualified bidder who is interested. They have five companies with experience in building skate parks that they are in talks with to sculpt to concrete. Grindline will still be involved as a design consultant, but it sounds like their designs have been scrapped.

What this means for the skaters of the SF Bay Area (and beyond) is more delays with a project that had been given the green light over a year ago.

If you feel the need to remind city officials that this skatepark is important and it needs to be built soon with the right knowledge and skill, contact Yomi Agunbiade
