So Gus Van Sant has made a movie with skateboarding as a backdrop and a alot of it takes place around Burnside (renamed Paranoid for the movie...). You may be asking :Why? The best answer is always: Why not? But let's face it: Van Sant is into dudes. And skateboarding is mostly practiced by dudes... The story centers around a skater kid who accidentally kills a security guard...

I haven't seen the movie, and my computer's too old to show the trailer in the link, but anybody know the story?
Does the dead body of the security guard lie in burnside for a few days while the kids nihilistically skate, smoke, and "experiment" with each other?

I saw Paranoid Park on dvd, finally. It's not very good, actually. Basically, it's about a kid who can't skate very well (he has a kickflip) but wants to hang out with dudes. His girlfriend wants to let him have it but he's not interested. The subtext is that he's secretly gay, his dad's openly gay, and that he wants to be taken on "train rides" by older dudes.

gus van zant should try making a non gay movie again. he seems obsessed with young gay dudes. i guess he is a fag version of hitchcock and his blondes but his movies are not even in the same ballpark. oh yeah, drugstore cowboy wasn't fagcentric and was his best flick. go figure. maybe larry clark and gus could team up and do a movie together.

Saw this awhile ago. It was so fucking bad... the dialog, the acting, the shit the characters would do... I was alone and still felt embarrassed to be watching such a shitty movie.

Remember that trippy Blue Haven movie on HBO or something. It was a couple of episodes that made up the series. Some dude wanted a sex change had to come up with jing so they robbed a drug dealer or something and all at the same time skated some pool. Weird shit...

old ass thread. That movie sucked. I guess my buddy lance lesher was in some of the skating at burnside. I couldnt really tell though.
