If you ask people their opinion on the Misfits most will say that it’s not the same without Glen Danzig, I never got the chance to see the Misfits with Danzig and the original lineup but I have seen them play with Jerry Only and Dez a few times and they are awesome live. I am still amazed at how tight the band is they don’t have a set list Jerry just shouts out the name of the song, kicks his bass into overdrive and it’s game on.

On this particular night when I arrived the stage was covered by black curtains masking a hidden surprise, the curtains came down, the drum riser was uncovered and it was a great surprise, the Misfits brought back their elaborate stage show with a morbid twist, piles of skulls stacked high on the drum riser, skeletons as mic stands and a ships wheel with a skeleton chained to it. Also there were some new lights added to complete the experience. I almost forgot instead of Marky Ramone on drums it was Robo, one of the Misfits original drummers, which might explain the stage.

Playing all the favorites such as Teenagers from Mars, Horror Business and my favorite besides the Latin Halloween song, 20 Eyes, and skulls! As usual Jerry was busy singing and tearing it up on the bass, with Dez providing backing vocals and guitar, Robo was content to sit on his throne behind the drums and provide the heart stopping drum beats. The fans didn’t care that Danzig wasn’t up there they happy to see them perform and were singing and moshing it up in support. I always have a good time at the Misfits; I have even had the pleasure of meeting Jerry and found him to be a really down to earth guy who truly cares about his fans. I have seen him stay after a show for forty-five minutes signing autographs for fans that to me shows his dedication.
