I've been to many an Insultors show over the years and this one ranks up there in the memories. House of Blues was being very corporate this night with a very un-corporate band. Now I've seen the Insultors banned from several Hollywood clubs since 1963. I've seen the Insultors banned from Arcadia about 5 times in their history. I've seen them kicked off the Gong Show twice! I've been to their last show ever at least ten times!!! Now you can add the House of Blues to the list. The curtains slid across the band just as they were 1/2 way through the show. Pete Corona in defiance of the 'no fireworks' rule then burst through the curtain, lit his picallo pete and jumped into the crowd as it screamed F-You to the H of Blues. Security then chased him out the door and through the parking lot. I can only imagine how they felt as a 300 pound red bearded guy painted green and blue (full body) through the parking lot of the fancy $15 to park parking lot. FUNNY!
There's nothing like an Insultors show!
Now, it was time to settle the joint down a little bit and Dread Zeppelin is just perfect to do that. Tort Elvis' creamy delivery to Reggae/Elvis versions of Led Zeppelin songs really got everyone to mellow out. The girls were dancin' and the band was rockin'. No problems with this kind of stuff on a Saturday night at the House of Blues. It was a far cry from the Insultors, but fittingly enough they both put on a good show none the less. Did I mention the guitarist looked exactly like the Insultors guitarists? 2 gigs in one night for an iriee pirate!
