This pool coping is begging for some action!!!!

Early Saturday morning I set sail for the some deep south 909 action on a stealth mission. I had received special invitation from Team Goon to observe and party in a suburban parcel of paradise. The deal made was that I couldn't leak word to a soul and couldn't bring anyone with me. No problem. I just pretended I forgot about it until a couple days before so I would not end up stressing about it. It worked out great.

I drove through what was like my picture of Armeggedon would be. Extremely smoky, dirty, choking air filled my lungs for a good portion of my drive. It wasn't your typical sunny California day that's for sure. As I made the trek off the freeway I was really surprised where I was headed. I thought I must have made a wrong turn because the houses were all in a nice neighborhood. I was expecting something way different. I didn't think there was enough room in these houses for a pool to skate. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

CH3 rocked the pool

CH3 got things going a little after 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Oh man, these guys are good! They opened up their set with "I Wanna Know Why" as well some classics like "Catholic Boy", "Mannequin", "I Didn't Know" and one that goes back to their 1982 black EP with the song called "Waiting in the Wings". They also played a song of their new cd, "Just on You". They ended their set with the song that appears on the bottom of their skate deck on Punk Rock Skateboards titled, "I've Got A Gun".
The skating in the bowl was staying steadily strong as they played.

D.I. shook off their hangovers and played strong

Quickly thereafter D.I. got an adrenaline shot and were ready to bust out as soon as they could get their guitar tuned. They were just done touring with The Misfits and The Damned and played a rager in Hollywood the night before, but they mustered up enough energy to begin. Lead vocal Casey Royer dedicated the first song "OC Life" to the snow which was actually ash from the fires and continued on with, "Johnny's Got A Problem", "Guns", Hang Ten in East Berlin" and staple DI track "Richard Hung Himself" to name a few. They ended with the song that Casey wrote in high school, "Amoeba". Amoeba flowed like punk rock honey. I was juiced again to take some more runs on my twisted ankle during that.

I thought the music was over, but the party was just getting started. The Adicts made a partial appearence, with lead vocalist Monkey not feeling well they went ahead with their planned acoustic set. Lead guitarist Pete was joined by Dan who plays violin they play a set that has probably never been seen before. They went on to do acoustic versions of "Tango", "Chinese Takeaway and "Viva La Revolution" amoung others. During Viva La Revolution the cops came and brought the show to an end. None of us could believe it! An acoustic guitar and violin playing in his back yard got Rob handcuffed and thrown into a cop car. Stupid! They had to cut it off early, so after the PIG left the grillin got started and the kegs were finished off.

The Adicts (give or take a few members) acoustic set.

I had a great time and so did everyone else I saw there. I would like to thank Brad from Team Goon and Punk Rock Skateboards and Finger Records for hooking this up. Rob for letting us use his sick pool to skate in. D.I., CH3, and the Adicts for giving us a good show.
