So me and the old lady went to Harold's bar in San Peeedro a week or two back to check out the Rise and the Fall release party thing, and we saw some bands play. There was quite the mix of styles, and it made for a fun night. Let's see, there was the punk band, a band that was going for the Modest Mouse sound, some white dudes rapping so hard that they set the PA on fire, and Almighty Do Me A Favor, aka Bradley Williams. He was handing out 7 inches, and since I love me some vinyl, I snagged a copy.
This guy does the whole one man band thing, playing guitar, bassdrum, high hat, and harmonica all at the same time. He puts it all together to produce a sound that can't be too far from what somebody is playing right now on the front porch of some house on the bayou somewhere, drunk as all hell. Now, Bradley can't sing worth a lick, but that actually works to his advantage as far as his music goes. This is trashy, bootstomp folk stuff, and it's a fun listen. You can find more info on Almighty Do Me A Favor on both his and at the Kapow Records websites.
