These are a few of my favorite things.
Roy Starin
Ahhh, the holidays. I always look forward to the traditions of the holidays, all the decorating, parties, egg nog, virgin sacrifices, ritualistic bloodletting... Alright so maybe we do Christmas a little differently at my house. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

Even though I am going on week 2 of non-skateboarding due to injury, I am still feeling merry enough to celebrate the things that make me happy. So, in a drastic departure from my usual ranty ways, let's talk about the artsy stuff that puts a smile on my face. I think I shall start with one of my all time faves, Aphex Twin.

Now Aphex Twin (aka Richard James) makes some of the weirdest, best music on the planet. When you add filmmaker Chris Cunningham to the mix, you get some of the best, most disturbing videos ever made. For a kid that grew up on MTV, this is like crack to me. Let's check the first vid, shall we?

Come to Daddy is the song that the Prodigy wished they had written. I am sure that there is some really artsy way to deconstruct this video, what with all the little Aphex Twins running around and the monster coming out of the TV and the scared little old lady and all that, so let's see if I can come up with something. Ahem..."I believe that the artist in this video is stating that his music is new and totally unique. The status quo, represented by the elderly lady, is frightened by this new, foreign sound. This clash of ideas comes to a climax as the new vanguard (the television monster) overpowers the status quo with the sound of its voice." Whoa, check me out people! Alright, let's look at another video.

WIndolicker. "Windowlicker" is slang for a retarded person, just in case you didn't know. So this video is basically a piss take on the whole rap video stereotype. And it's fucking brilliant if you ask me. The song itself is remarkable in its
own little way too. If you view the sound waves from Windowlicker on a spectrograph, you will see an image of Richard D James' face appear during a certain part of the song. Now seriously, who the fuck else does something like that? That so retarded that it's genius. Or maybe the other way around. Here's the last Aphex/Cunningham video, and it's my favorite.

Rubber Johnny is some seriously fucked up shit. I totally hope that it gives at least a couple of you bad dreams. Merry Christmas.

So, for those two or three people that are still with me, I got a couple more videos to share. The first one is an electronic music T and A fest. Now this vid shows some boobies, so don't watch it if you are at work, unless your boss is a pervert like you.
Plug Me In is a cool little electronic song from Add N to X. I know that this video has a little glitch about 2 minutes in, but who cares? It's got boobs and lesbians and fake weenies and stuff, and that trumps glitches every time.

Alright, here's the last one. I don't have words for this one, so just check it. The Anti-Pope. Zlad is the man.

Well, that's all I gots for you this time around. Big ups to You Tube for keeping me entertained while I can't skate. See you next month.
