Old news.
Roy Starin
Hi everybody. This little deal was sorely in need of an update, so here we are. I think I am just gonna wing this and see how it goes, seeing that I have no real news to speak of. Oh wait, did you hear that Metallica's next album is gonna be produced by Rick Rubin? What? Old news? Shit...

I am actually excited about some recent releases. Arctic Monkeys finally released their album stateside on Tuesday. If you don't know anything about this band, let me fill you in as best I can. These guys managed to build a following with absolutely no label support. They played live shows at which they distributed their demo. Fans were encouraged to share Arctic Monkeys with others via filesharing. Their debut came in at number one in the UK, and they did it completely on their own. Even if you aren't a fan of anything that came out after 1986, you have to appreciate a true DIY approach, especially when they have to compete with so much junk that is shoved down everyone's throats. It's great rock and roll, and it's totally worth your 20 bucks.

The next album is a new release of the early works of the best metal band around right now, Mastodon. Mastodon is seriously right up there with any great metal band you can think of, and thank fucking god they don't sound like whatever CD is playing at Hot Gothic right now. And they absolutely rule live. I saw them at a club in Sacramento last year, and my wife sent me a text: "So, how are they?" I wrote back "They are crushing me." She still makes fun of me for that. The new (old) disc is called "Call of the Mastodon" and it's on Relapse.

That's it for now. I gots some reviews to spit out, so I am gonna save some of my attention span for that shit. Oh yeah! I almost forgot to welcome our new punk reviewer, Josh. Hi Josh! Josh is also in Rabies, and skates himself some pools. He will be making contributions in the near future.

Since I will never be able to do this in any other forum, I am gonna close with some shout outs. First off, thanks to Cesar for numbers 14, 15, and 16; Sirius for giving me something to listen to; big ups to Barfly (Lillid, beeeatch); Count Rampula; the letter F; Steve Rocco; Jack Daniels; waterfalls; and your momma.

That was fun. I promise I will never do it again.

Send me stuff!!!
