Glen E. Friedman shooting Steve Olson shot by Matthew Chai. - Chelsea Piers- NYC

When I asked Steve Olson to do a guest post on BTO, I already had a few photographs from Glen E. Friedman. We started talking & decided on two different stories which didn't bother me one bit. Guys like Duane, Steve Olson, TA, Wes and Jayboy have so many great stories in them it's a 'no-brainer' on my part. I give them the podium and let them run with it. Here is the second Steve Olson guest post. Enjoy & thank you for reading and supporting my deal. Isn't it odd when --sometimes-- strangers are nicer than the people we call ' friends' ? Thanks to Steve Olson for the memories & Matthew Chai for the image. Dedicated to Andy Kessler. R.I.P.  Skate - Ozzie

"Friedman called me. I happened to be in NY... I told him I’d been skating Chelsea Piers skate park that Andy Kessler got going with Parks & Recreation... He says he has a certain film to shoot and that there’s not many rolls of that film left.  The name of the film I can’t remember... So I met  up with Glen E. and we rode the bus to the skatepark and shot some of this rare, soon to be extinct film  that Glen still had. The photo is Glen shooting me doing a frontside carve grind at the deep end of the pool at Chelsea Piers... I kind-of  remember Friedman telling me - "Yo!  you're barely grinding! "  I was thinking - "What are you talking about?!  I’m grinding the fuck outta the deep end  bitch! You better be getting this shot."  This other cat is shooting Friedman --shooting me --  and I really dig this photo."

1. "The grind is legit. "

2. "It’s me and Friedman.  I’ve been shooting pics  with Glen E. for quite sometime now and Glen is one of my best friends in NY, and on this God- forsaken planet... that means something...  and there is the fact we’re  still going out shooting photos that I truly dig...  Thank you Friedman & Matt -  the guy  that shot this photo... Dig It ."  -  Steve Olson

Glen E. Friedman-

1.  Notice Kessler's initials in the concrete in the foreground that I told Matt to include in the shot.
2.  When I tell people they're not skating good enough, it's just to push them to the brink, so shots like THIS happen.
